The AGW®-325 lens was developed to answer requests for even better infrared radiation protection while also reducing the light level perceived by the eye. This filter updates the traditional AGW-286 filter.
It consists of a base lens of exclusive Blue Didymium™, a thin section of our exclusive lightly tinted IR filter glass and a section of either shade 3, 4, 5, 6 or 8 Green Welding cemented to the base lens. You may have your lenses made 50/50 or one third/two thirds. The shades in standard configuration are "clear" on top and dark on the bottom. The reversed configuration (custom made, not returnable) is dark on top and "clear" on the bottom. Your choice.
The available shades are:
- 3 *Custom made, not returnable*
- 4
- 5
- 6
- 8 *Custom made, not returnable*
Suggested uses are: where there is a need for attenuation of bright illumination, such as that generated when working Pyrex®, quartz, Vicor®, platinum jewelry work, and any operation where long periods of time are spent gazing into a high-temperature furnace or fire pit.
The AGW-325 filter is available only in non-prescription, and single vision prescription form. Because of the laminations involved, we cannot make this filter in bifocals, trifocals or progressive forms.
Thickness Advisory: This filter is thicker than normal lenses. In non-prescription form, it is approximately 5 mm thick. Single vision prescription adds at least 1 mm.
Shade 8 is not made in prescription form due to the extreme darkness of the filter.
