True Didymium™ Filter

The True Didymium™ filter is our new standard filter for soft glass torch work and torch metal crafting.

True Didymium™ is our exclusive new soft glass torch working filter. It is an updated recipe for the old Schott ACE glass. We do not source this filter from Schott but from one of their competitors. We are also pleased to announce that the True Didymium™ is available in a 71 mm diameter lens and all our previous restrictions on frame sizing have been removed.

A side benefit of this filter is the apparent improvement in judging the color temperature of the glass while working it. The observed color is extremely comfortable when viewing glowing heat sources for extended periods of time.

Suggested uses are lampworking of soft glass beads and small sculptures. Not recommended for working on very high-temperature glasses for prolonged periods of time.

True Didymium™ prescription lenses are available supplied with Aura's exclusive AuraLite™ process. A 3.2 mm thick wafer of True Didymium™ is laminated over a thinly ground glass crown glass lens. This lamination process also makes for a safer lens.

Lenses are available in Plano (non-prescription), single vision, D-28 bifocals, and 7x28 trifocals. Progressive (invisible) bifocals are not available with this filter.

Thickness Advisory: This filter is thicker than normal lenses. In non-prescription form, it is approximately 3 mm thick. Single vision prescription adds at least 1 mm, bifocal prescription adds at least 2 mm.

NOTE: This lens is designed for SOFT GLASS ONLY. DO NOT USE FOR OR WITH BOROSILICATE GLASS TYPE WITHOUT ADDITIONAL FILTER PROTECTION!!

BE SURE TO SELECT A FRAME WHEN YOU ARE DONE!

Note that PDs are required for all corrective eyewear and that we cannot process your order in our lab without it.
